Main Character Sketches
I have practiced a number of times and manage to simplified the contour of banner fish into a more simplified shape (Fig. 1 to Fig. 7).

Shoaling Direction Planning
Below shows several sketches planning for the banner fishes’ shoaling direction (Fig. 8 to Fig. 13) in one spread of children book illustration.

Banner Fish Design Development
Working out the banner fish by using Adobe Illustrator software (Fig 14 to Fig. 16).

Shoaling Design
Few attempts in planning shoaling models (Fig. 17  to Fig. 20). I think using inverted direction (Fig. 8 and Fig. 9) is a good idea to show overlapping shoaling fishes. The Fig. 19 indicate a die-cut spot for a missing fish which is also the main character of this book.
